Magnolia 3.6 is up to ten times faster and ships with high-end Enterprise Content Management features such as a transaction-safe publishing in a granular staging environment, a re-written cache system and an enhanced backup tool that keeps content revisions.
New features in Magnolia 3.6
- 10 times faster: Significant performance improvements contained in Magnolia 3.6 are mainly beneficial for authors who create and manage content within Magnolia. Magnolia 3.6 is up to 10 times faster when creating paragraphs, activating content, managing revisions, importing content, and more.
- Advanced cache system for high availability sites: The new cache system of Magnolia 3.6 allows granular custom flushing and caching strategies. It enables Magnolia users to implement individual cache solutions which optimally meet the load patterns of a website to ensure high availability of every single content element.
- Transactional activation makes granular staging bullet-proof: In former Magnolia versions there was no mechanism guaranteeing that newly created or updated content is being propagated to all public instances (so called “subscribers”) in a staging environment. In Magnolia 3.6, such content gets either published to all public instances or not at all due to the new transactional activation functionality. The content will be sent to each public instance at the same time so that the single publishing request does not get cumulated any more as in previous Magnolia releases. Transactional activation makes sure that changes are only committed and published effectively once the content reached all subscriber instances successfully.
- Backup of revisions: Magnolia 3.6 includes a backup facility which allows to restore revisions of content. The new backup feature is a helpful tool for migrations from one Magnolia instance to another, and allows to easily switch repositories or databases without loosing any content.
- Ultra-low memory footprint: Magnolia 3.6 has a significantly reduced memory footprint. Two Magnolia instances can now run with a total memory consumption below 100 MB, one of the lowest memory footprints in the industry. This allows to host smaller Magnolia sites at a very low price point, and will lower the barrier of entry for many community-edition users.
